Spring Break Camp Leader

The Richmond Museum offers a dynamic Junior Curators -- Spring Break Camp that introduces children ages 6-12 to the exciting behind-the-scenes world of a museum. Children apply what they have learned by creating an exhibit for public display at the Richmond Cultural Centre and Richmond City Hall.
The first camp runs from March 18-22, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for children ages 6-8.
The second camp runs from March 25-29, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for children ages 9-12.

The Richmond Museum invites applications for a responsible, enthusiastic and creative Spring Break Camp Leader.

The Spring Break Camp Leader is responsible for delivering this program independently under the supervision of the Educational Programs Coordinator. Responsibilities include:

  *   preparing materials and resources for each day of camp
  *   maintaining a positive and healthy learning environment
  *   maintaining active supervision, especially during field trips
  *   liaising with Museum staff and parents
  *   providing direction to volunteers
  *   evaluating and providing feedback about this program

The successful applicant will have completed a minimum of 3 years of post-secondary education with a background in museum studies, history or education, or have related experience in a museum, heritage or a cultural setting.  S/he will have substantial experience teaching children in a supervisory capacity.  A police information check is required.

Work Period: 110 hours during March 2019. Must be available between March 18-22 and March 25-29, 2019 from 8:30 am - 4:30 pm in addition to 30 prep hours prior to the start of camp. The salary for this position is $20.08 per hour plus 12% in lieu of benefits.
