Digital Directions - Archives Association of British Columbia and ARMA Vancouver Conference 2019

May 2-3, 2019, Deloitte, Downtown Vancouver, BC

The AABC and ARMA Vancouver are pleased to be holding a joint conference in 2019. We are seeking proposals on the topic of Digital Directions, exploring the pathways that archivists and records managers must travel in an increasingly networked world.

As the archives and records management communities continue to forge our path through the digital landscape, must we follow in the footsteps of our forbearers or should we be travelling in new directions?  Are we ready to meet the challenges and opportunities presented by this new landscape? What new solutions or strategies must we adopt to continue making progress?

The AABC and ARMA Vancouver invite the archives and records management communities to explore these questions. We encourage submissions from individual, organizational, provincial and/or national perspectives. This conference seeks diverse approaches to the theory and practice of managing digital records.

Proposals should demonstrate a connection to the conference theme "Digital Directions" through consideration of the following suggested topics:
   - Digital records and information management
   - Digital preservation
   - Privacy and freedom of information
   - Access and rights issues
   - Managing digital photograph collections
   - Digital repositories
   - Imaging practices
   - Outreach and the web
   - The importance of metadata
   - Email Management
   - Social Media management
                - Other topics that address the theme will also be considered

The conference committee welcome submissions in a variety of traditional and non-traditional formats including:

*         Formal presentation of papers (20-30 mins)

*         Panel discussions (10-15 mins)

*         Roundtables (5-7 mins)

*         Focused debates

*         Poster presentations
Submissions must include:

*         title

*         type and length of presentation

*         abstract of the proposed paper or panel (max 300 words)

*         brief bio statement(s)

*         contact information
