[BCMA] photographer Alphonse Savard

SEARCH for ALPHONSE SAVARD PHOTOS

The SHFCB is doing research on a Vancouver photographer, Alphonse Savard, who operated Imperial Photo Studio during the 1880s-1900s. But then he seems to have gone to work at Britannia Beach, though in an unknown capacity.

Savard took several photos of members of the Chinese community, of sports groups and beauty queens, along with the regular walk-in clients. One of his photos appears on the cover of Brokering Belonging: Chinese in Canada’s Exclusion Era, 1885-1945, by Lisa Rose Mar.
