*FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE*



“I’ve been making a small quilt, working with the idea of objects that
contain. Worry stones, places and receptacles to put the hard stuff that we
deal with” describes American artist Alex Bailey, the Caetani Centre’s
Fresh!AiR program’s current artist-in-residence.



“I like the idea of an emotional support blanket.”



She’s also creating intricately embroidered works of art, using the slow
meditative process to explore and process concepts of bodily autonomy,
accessible healthcare and the current fight over women’s bodies in the US.



Her art is tactile, sculptural and invites a thoughtful slowing down.



Join us for a pop-up solo art show and reception of Alex’s art at the
Caetani Cultural Centre’s Studio Gallery.

*Exhibition Opening Reception: *Monday, June 24th, 7pm - 9pm.
*Gallery hours: *Monday, June 24th, 7pm - 9pm, Tuesday, June 25th, 11am-4pm
in the Caetani Cultural Centre Studio Gallery.

The Monday evening reception will also feature two of the Caetani Centre’s
other artists-in-residence, Vancouver-based visual artist Jenn Pearson and
British visual artist Sophie Boggis-Rolfe.

*Jenn Pearson* is an artist whose visual practice is rooted in a
site-specific exploration of found, natural and ephemeral materials. She’ll
be hosting an open studio of her works-in-progress of textile, painting and
photo-based projects in the Centre’s new Bassiano Studio.

*Sophie **Boggis-Rolfe*, a British visual artist, will be sharing the work
she’s created during her 9-week stay at the Caetani Centre, including work
created from foam board, nails and black yarn.



*About the Artist-in-Residence programs:*

Caetani Centre’s Artist-in-Residence programs are available to artists
working on creative projects anywhere from 2 weeks to 3 months in length.
The programs are intended to serve as a conduit between regional and
national artistic cultures by welcoming artists of any genre from across
Canada to the North Okanagan to live, create and commune.

The artist stays and creates at the Caetani Cultural Centre and is invited
to share workshops, readings and exhibitions with the North Okanagan
community.
