Information Systems Analyst
Salary: $53,857 per annum starting, increasing to $61,097
Royal BC Museum, Victoria, British Columbia
Under the general guidance of, and in consultation with the Digital Manager, the incumbent will manage development and maintenance of Royal BC Museum database systems including but not limited to the following: a museum and archives collection management system, an integrated library system, and a digital asset management system. As well, this position will help develop a collection location system. This position manages technical projects within the museum and archives, including liaising with contractors and partners. This position also works closely with users, creating and implementing training programs for the systems identified above.
Along with formal education in computer sciences or library sciences you possess strong skills as a data analyst for large complex systems. You have database administration experience and are comfortable querying large datasets using SOL for the purpose of identifying patterns of data corruption, performing bulk updates, or writing custom reports. As well, you are comfortable with project administration, working with users and implementing training programs. Ideally you will have work experience directly related to museum, library and/or archive collections, with knowledge of associated data standards and schemas. In addition to a data analyst skillset, you have proven experience managing complex projects along with developing procedures and standards. Your creativity, enthusiasm and confident nature enables you to succeed in a team environment while your results orientation and ability to demonstrate initiatives ensures the job gets done and organizational goals are met. You will possess a high degree of flexibility, and the ability to manage and refocus priorities.
