** Explore Social Justice and
Meet our new Executive Director
------------------------------------------------------------

>From April through May 2019, tour the GVMA's newest temporary exhibit, "Exploring Social Justice." This exhibit will be presented as an honest look at four important social justice topics that have affected Vernon, Canada, and the world: internment, home children, land pre-emption, and immigration. "Exploring Social Justice" invites visitors to contribute their thoughts and opinions on these important issues, and offer feedback on the evolving nature of displays at the Greater Vernon Museum and Archives. With a combination of technology, hands-on activities, archival material, and even satirical memes, this exhibit is educational and poignant for all ages.

An official opening for this landmark exhibit will take place on Thursday, April 11. From 7 to 9 PM, members of the public are invited to tour the new displays and offer feedback before the exhibit is opened on a more permanent basis. Anyone who has an interest in social activism, or in learning more about historical and contemporary injustices, is invited to attend. Join us for an evening of conversation!

This event will also offer attendees the opportunity to meet our new executive director, Steve Fleck! The GVMA is thrilled that Steve has accepted this leadership position, believing strongly that his boundless energy and innovative ideas are exactly what is needed to transition the museum in to the new cultural centre. Feel free to approach Steve yourself Thursday evening to hear firsthand his vision and mission for the museum.
