SUMMER LEADER II - HERITAGE INTERPRETER

Applications are now being accepted for Summer Leader II positions with Richmond community associations in Arts, Culture and Heritage. This person is mainly responsible for leading on-site tours and demonstrations while wearing a historical costume as part of the Living History program at Britannia Shipyards. This position is located at Britannia Shipyards National Historic Site in Steveston, Richmond.



DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

*         Lead tours of buildings and on-site demonstrations while wearing a provided historical costume

*         Engage in both formal and informal interpretive discussions with visitors

*         Works in a team environment to provide a safe, inclusive environment for all visitors

*         Program evaluation and development

*         Assists in the day-to-day maintenance of programs

  *   Be a positive role model and communicate effectively with participants, staff and volunteers.

*         Special event and festival support

  *   Other related duties as required



REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
*         Grade 11 plus 200+ hours of experience working with children or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  *   BCRPA High Five - Principles of Healthy Child Development Certification
  *   Emergency Child Care First Aid or Standard First Aid and CPR Level B (or higher)
  *   Successful candidates will be required to pass a police information check



RECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS:

*         Supervisory experience

*         Public Speaking and experience facilitating tours

*         Class 4 Driver's license

*         Second language is an asset

*         Experience with cultural diversity

*         Coaching and leadership experience

*         20 hours of related childcare courses/workshops



HOURS OF WORK:
*         Up to 35 hours/week for 6-14 weeks
*         $15.83-$16.79/hour
