Hello colleagues in BC!
The Alberta Museums Association (AMA) is pleased to announce that registration for the 2019 Conference, As a Whole: Well-being, Health, and Museums, is now open!
Join us at the Chateau Lacombe Hotel in Edmonton from September 19 - 21 as we explore, contemplate, and champion the roles and actions museums take in providing, fostering, and embracing the health and well-being of individuals, institutions, and communities.
This year's conference features:
* A pre-conference workshop, Hospitals as Living Museums: Cultural Experience in Healthcare Environments, at the University of Alberta Hospital - McMullen Gallery;
* Two keynote presentations, the first by Carol D. Ryff, PhD, Director of the Institute on Aging and Professor of Psychology at University of Wisconsin-Madison, and the second by Professor Helen Chatterjee, Professor of Biology at University College London and co-founder of the Culture, Health and Wellbeing Alliance;
* Two full days of sessions that will address how collections, programming, partnerships, and exhibitions that relate to healthy lifestyles, psychological well-being, and sustainability can broaden the museum's impact on their local community and internal teams; and
* Evening events, including Thursday night's Opening Reception and Awards Ceremony at the TELUS World of Science - Edmonton, and Friday night's reception hosted by the Royal Alberta Museum.
