The Museums Assistance Program (MAP) is a funding program with the federal Department of Canadian Heritage that provides financial assistance to eligible Canadian museums and related institutions undertaking projects in three main components:

  * Access to Heritage - creation and circulation of travelling exhibitions (must be travelling to at least one other confirmed venue)
  * Indigenous Heritage - preservation, management and presentation of Indigenous cultural heritage
  * Collections Management - collections storage improvements, purchase of a new or significant upgrade of a collections management database, or sharing best practices related to key museum functions

The minimum general eligibility for an organization:

· must provide services to the public year-round

· have the equivalent of one full-time paid professional museum staff

· have policies for key museum functions and an active strategic plan

For the Indigenous Heritage component, Indigenous governments and other Indigenous organizations with a mandate to preserve and support Indigenous heritage are eligible to apply.

The 2020-21 Guidelines are now available at www.canada.ca/en/canadian-heritage/services/funding/museums-assistance.html<http://www.canada.ca/en/canadian-heritage/services/funding/museums-assistance.html> for projects that start within the April 1, 2020 - March 31, 2021 federal fiscal year.

To receive the application forms, potential applicants must first discuss their proposed project with the Western Region's MAP program officer Colleen Craig at colleen.craig at canada.ca<mailto:colleen.craig at canada.ca> or 604-348-7614. This is to confirm eligibility of both the applicant and the project, and to discuss how to best strengthen the application to fit program objectives.

Applications can be emailed or mailed:

· By email, applications must be sent by 11:59 local time on November 1, 2019.

· If mailed, applications must be postmarked on or before November 1, 2019.
