Colleagues,
The provincial response to COVID-19 has dramatically changed how the BC
heritage sector normally operates. Our colleagues in the local and national
GLAM sector (Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums) have risen to the
challenge of continuing to promote heritage and have developed some useful
resources that we are pleased to promote and share on the AABC website. The
new webpage includes some links that may be of interest to you or your
organization as you navigate daily operations while in the office or at
home. Please note that this is not an exhaustive list of every project and
online resource currently available...just a highlight and somewhere for
you to start! More information can be found HERE.

AABC archival advisory services are still available so please don't
hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. We are working on the
details for presenting a mini online conference with presentations that
would have been given in person at the May joint conference
with ARMA-Vancouver Island. Registration for this event will be free and
more information will be provided in the coming weeks. Online webinars are
also being developed along with some cross-discipline
archives/museum topics with our BCMA colleagues and will be announced
shortly.
AABC distance education courses continue, however the schedule has been
slightly revised so that the textbook required for the next course,
"Managing Archival Photographs" (Sept-Nov 2020) is readily accessible as an
epublication or PDF document. This ensures no delay from hardcopy book
publishers or postal/courier services and that students can start the
course on time. The distance education course "Oral History: From Theory to
Practice" will now take place Jan-March 2021.
A number of workshops originally on the calendar for March-June have been
postponed and will be rescheduled for later in the year when it is safe to
meet in person again.
Stay safe and healthy!
Best regards,
Lisa Glandt, MAS
