* Call for proposals for CMA 2021 National Conference *
* OTTAWA, December 4, 2020 — *The Canadian Museums Association (CMA) is
pleased to announce that planning for the 2021 National Conference is
underway —submit your proposals by *January 31, 2021*.
One of our goals is to bring people and organizations together in support
of the museum field and society at-large. We are modernizing our
conferences to ensure they are as relevant as possible. The pandemic has
also taught us about the importance of designing programs that are both
flexible and responsive. While we had hoped to see you all in Newfoundland
this spring, we are currently planning for a *virtual national conference
kicking off May 3, 2021*, with an in-person element if it is possible. The
virtual conference will involve a number of sessions per week over the
course of two to three weeks. In addition to these sessions, the conference
will also include our Directors’ Symposium, 2021 Awards Ceremony and Annual
General Meeting.
The theme for CMA2021 is *Moving forward*, inspired by our President’s call
for greater solidarity, connectedness and social responsibility to propel
the museum sector ahead. CMA2021 will be a unique opportunity to bring
Canada’s diverse museum community together for the best in professional
development, networking and collaboration. CMA2021 promises to be an
occasion to focus on the most timely and relevant issues of today and, at
the same time, address the practical issues we face in our work.
Help us build your conference. For CMA2021, we are especially interested in
proposals focused on critical issues such as truth and reconciliation,
diversity, equity, access and inclusion, environmental sustainability and
ethics. And we are especially interested in proposals covering technical
issues including financial, legal, digital, pandemic strategies,
conservation and privacy.
