[BCMA] Fwd: Canada Council for the Arts additional funding for the arts sector in 2021

*Additional funding for the arts*

When can the recovery truly begin and what will it look like? Even if we
can’t say for sure, we can prepare.

In its 2020 Fall Economic Statement

the federal government announced $181.5M in additional funds in 2021‒22 for
the Department of Canadian Heritage and the Canada Council for the Arts to
enhance their support to the arts sector. We expect that the specifics of
the funding will be revealed in early 2021.

With these funds, the Council plans to support projects that create jobs.
As soon as we get the green light, we will announce our initiatives, and we
intend to distribute the funding very quickly. It is urgent that we support
those who have been without work thus far. You should start preparing now.

   - If you have research and creation projects that require hiring
   collaborators, now is the time to define the broad strokes.
   - If you are part of an artistic group or organization, now is also the
   time to consider creative projects for new works or adaptations of existing
   works that will enable you to share your artistic and literary creations
   with broader audiences via digital technology.

We are looking for proposals that require that you hire artists and
experts, who need to work to get through the pandemic. Once again, please
be ready.

Before the new funding is made available, we will have the opportunity to
discuss the last year and our vision for the future with you and with the
broader public. And so I encourage you to add our 2021 Annual Public
Meeting to your calendars (it will be held at 4 p.m. EST on January 26,
2021).

In closing, I want to thank you for your confidence, and I salute your
courage and your efforts to fly the arts-and-culture flag high and proud
during these difficult times. I wish you restorative holidays. I hope you
take time to recuperate—and rest assured that we will be by your side more
than ever after the holiday break.

annonçait des fonds supplémentaires de 181,5 millions de dollars en
2021-2022 pour le ministère du Patrimoine canadien et le Conseil des arts
du Canada afin d’élargir leurs programmes de soutien aux arts. Nous
prévoyons que les détails sur ces fonds seront connus dans les premiers
mois de 2021.

Le Conseil compte utiliser les fonds qui lui seront attribués pour soutenir
des projets qui créent des emplois. Dès que nous aurons le feu vert, nous
annoncerons nos initiatives avec l’intention de procéder très rapidement à
l’octroi des fonds. Préparez-vous dès maintenant.

   - Si vous avez des projets de recherche et de création qui nécessitent
   l’embauche de collaboratrices et collaborateurs, c’est le temps d’en
   définir les grandes lignes.
   - Si vous faites partie d’un groupe ou d’un organisme artistique, c’est
   le temps d’envisager des projets de création de nouvelles œuvres ou
   d’adaptation d’œuvres existantes qui permettront de partager vos créations
   artistiques et littéraires avec de plus vastes auditoires grâce au
   numérique.

Nous souhaitons recevoir des propositions qui requièrent l’embauche
d’artistes et de spécialistes qui doivent travailler pour passer à travers
la pandémie. Encore une fois, soyez prêts.

D’ici à ce que les nouveaux fonds annoncés soient disponibles, nous aurons
la chance de discuter avec vous et avec le grand public de la dernière
année et, surtout, de la vision de l’avenir qui se profile. Inscrivez notre
Assemblée publique annuelle de 2021 à votre agenda (26 janvier à
16 h HNE).

En terminant, je vous remercie pour votre confiance et je salue votre
courage et tous les efforts que vous faites pour porter haut le flambeau
des arts et de la culture en ces temps gris. Passez des fêtes paisibles et
prenez ce temps pour vous ressourcer. Nous serons plus que jamais à vos
