Hello,
I'm hoping someone in BC can assist me. Earlier today I was contacted by someone looking for the home of their Uncle's WWII medals. His name was Clifford Ellis Bell, service number 63912. While from Windsor, Ontario he initially enlisted in Calgary Alberta and possibly has a connection to the 8th Recce which was based in the Swift Current area. They have record of Mr Bell giving his medals to a Mr Marshall of the Ship's Inn Cafe around 30 September 1963. The Ship's Inn was located at 678 Gilford Street in Vancouver but has since closed. It is not known what happened to the medals at that point. The niece isn't trying to get them back but is hoping to find where they have ended up. Possibly she'd like to come out to see them if they were available. The medals are:
* 1939-45 Star France-Germany Star
* Defence Medal
* CVSM & Clasp War Medal 1939-45
* Korea Medal
* United Nations Service Medal
I know this is a bit of a long shot but it's worth a try. A big thanks to my BC colleagues!
