Hello,
Today the Vernon Museum and Archives has a unique collection of furniture available for transfer to other museums.
Special Offer: An engineering marvel, a tool which shaped the very hills of BC, that's right, we have on offer today a ten foot wooden irrigation pipe. While it is no longer watertight it would make an excellent exhibit piece. For those of you with no space in your storage, we are willing to cut it into smaller pieces.
Next up we have an object that looks just like a bedside table, but it is possibly a commode. You might want to do your research if you take it, because those are two objects you do not want to mix up. It's got the odd scratch but it is otherwise in excellent shape. (988.11.2)
A tiny table, which is, as we museum professionals say, super cute. It's a warm brown mahogany, with an inlaid wood design on the top, tiny turned legs and it's on little wheels. You can just imagine some sweet faced young Victorian serving crustless cucumber sandwiches on it to her friends. It is in excellent condition. (989.109.93)
An upright spindle back chair, with a maple seat, and turned front legs. It has Chinese characters written under the seat, and was made by Eastern Furniture, Victoriaville PQ. It's a good chair. It radiates hardy simplicity, it's the type of chair you sit down on after a long day on the farm. Perfect for any historical house which needs something that doubles as artifact and visitor seating. (993.81.9)
A caned back rocking chair, small enough to tuck into the corner of a display. It does need a new seat, but otherwise it is in decent condition. (986.108.002)
I am happy to send photographs or more information, but as usual, shipping costs will be your museums responsibility, and in some cases there will be an extra fee for shipping materials. If you are interested please contact: Carolyn.ben at vernonmuseum.ca<mailto:Carolyn.ben at vernonmuseum.ca>
