Hello Museum Peers,
Sandra Borger here, from Museum of Surrey. Many of you may have seen the
hashtag #MuseumsEh bouncing around on social media. If you have not, take a
minute and see what your colleagues have been up to! #MuseumsEh was started
in May as a movement to encourage Canadian museums to spread uplifting
content on social media with monthly themes during the pandemic. It was,
and continues to be, a way to connect our followers together and grow our
online community. In May, we used the theme of spring, and in June, we
looked at baking.
However, we feel the need to do something different for July and August.
Our theme for the summer is going to be #DiversityIsOurStrength. We invite
Canadian museums to share highlights from their collections, stories from
their exhibits, or reflections on their institutions and/or communities'
history. Share history; it may not always be uplifting. It may be quite the
opposite. But share it nonetheless in recognition of adversity and with a
message of hope for change.
Do you have a theme in mind for September? We would love to hear it! Send
us your ideas.
Sincerely,
Sandra
