[BCMA] Job Opportunity: Research Projects Burnaby Village Museum

Hello everyone,

Please find two short-term, project based research opportunities at Burnaby Village Museum this year. We are seeking:



1)      A researcher to support a project to explore the museum site’s colonial roots and past actions, and to unpack what that indigenous erasure has looked like throughout the Village’s history. This audit will more fully document long term practices, impacts, and the ways in which colonialism is woven into BVM’s interpretation. Courses in settler colonial theory, Anthropology, or History would be considered an asset. An incumbent should have some related experience research and collections work in a museum, art gallery, library or similar institution; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. 2)      A researcher to support a project to explore the historic contributions and contemporary presence of South Asian families and people within Burnaby. An incumbent in this role involves a wide variety of work related to research and identification of museum collections and the research and development of exhibits related to South Asian heritage. Courses in settler colonial theory, Anthropology, or History would be considered an asset. An incumbent should have some related experience in research and collections work in a museum, art gallery, library or similar institution; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
