I am excited to share an upcoming virtual event by the Art Gallery of
Greater Victoria that we would love for you to attend.
The free workshop is made for organizations and institutions that serve the
public to have an opportunity to reconsider their accessibility and
public engagement
practices towards the goal of a relational accessible program that evolves
with the culture of the publics they serve. In one-on-one and small group
activities, participants will consider their work in relation to the
guiding principles of Open Access. Created by Vancouver-based artist Carmen
Papalia, Open Access is a conceptual framework created by for
accessibility that moves beyond a policy or accommodation-based model by
providing guidelines for mutual care.
In this time when especially many accommodations for disabled workers that
were once deemed not possible by organizations are becoming the norm, the
workshop is an opportunity to imagine a future of accessibility being the
standard. What other items that were first thought of as impossible can be
a reality in terms of accessibility?
