[BCMA] Objects on offer

HI Tammy,
When my parents died, they left a collection of stuff like that. It was their pride and joy, and they had a story about each piece, where and when they had found it. There was talk of giving the collection to the local museum, but my brother and I evaluated the cultural importance and value of the items, and decided the real place for the things was back out in the collector's world. There the items would continue to give joy to new owners who would in their turn celebrate the act of collecting and treasured maintenance.

Selling the items to "antique" shops actually netted more value than a tax receipt.

Subject: [BCMA] Objects on offer

Hello, Museum-land!

Once again I'm sending this out with a list of objects that have been offered to us. While there are a couple of items on this list that we are interested in (the tea service wagon, for example), most of them are duplicates of things already in our collection or just not something we can give a home to. If anybody is interested in any of these, let me know and I will connect you to the donor.

These items were purchased or collected by a man, born here in Creston in 1914, and his wife, who came to the valley several years later. They ultimately wound up owning an early tourist campground and mobile home park - but none of these objects are connected with that. I have asked the donor if she has any more information on any of the objects and how or why they were acquired.

These items are currently in a storage unit in Calgary. The donor can get them as far as Creston via a relative, and I'm happy to help distribute them from here if the receiving organisation covers the cost of shipping. The donor is offering to donate but would like tax-deductible receipts for the value, if possible.

Thanks,

Tammy
