Announcing Program Details for 2021 Conference Series Events

The Alberta Museums Association (AMA) is excited to announce details of the March and June events in our 50th Anniversary Conference Series<https://museums.ab.ca/what-we-do/annual-conference/2021-conference-series.aspx>!

March Event Program Available Now
[cid:image003.jpg at 01D70534.2FA4D990]To launch our first event in the 2021 Conference Series, we are delighted to be joined by our keynote speaker, Corey Timpson, Museum Consultant and former Vice President of Exhibition, Research, and Design at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights (CMHR). As the project director for the design-build of the CMHR, Corey championed the creation of and directed the museum's internationally recognized inclusive design and accessibility practices.

An active collaborator and thought leader in the experience design and inclusive museological discourses within the cultural sector, Corey's primary focus is to facilitate meaningful experiences among audiences (on-site and online) through mixed-media, digital technology, multi-sensory and inclusive, dialogic design.

Explore the Digital Program
Following the keynote, a full afternoon of breakout sessions led by provincial, national, and international museum professionals address the Conference's guiding pillars of Reconciliation, Inclusion, Community, and Innovation. After a day of virtual learning, connect with colleagues as we close out the program with a dino-themed Paleo-Knowledgy Trivia Night hosted by the Philip J. Currie Dinosaur Museum.

Click here<https://museums.ab.ca/what-we-do/annual-conference/2021-conference-series/march-event-program.aspx#MEP> to explore the digital program for the Conference Series Event on Thursday, March 18.

June Keynote Announced

The AMA is also excited to announce Lonnie G. Bunch III, Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution, as the keynote speaker for our June event!

[cid:image005.jpg at 01D70534.2FA4D990]Secretary Bunch will join us for a conversation to share his experience building and serving diverse communities through bold, visionary museum action and leadership. Our discussion will explore museums as places of collaboration that are breaking down barriers to accessibility and ensuring inclusive representation of and for their communities.

Reflecting on the Conference's guiding pillar of Community, Secretary Bunch's keynote and Q & A opportunity will kick off our June event and inspire ongoing discussions and learning for Alberta museums and their work of creating vibrant and engaged communities.

Join Secretary Bunch and the AMA for this exciting conversation on Thursday, June 17. More details for the virtual event program for June will be released approximately one month before the event date.
