* A FAMILY DAY UNLIKE ANY OTHER: BC MUSEUMS GET READY TO CELEBRATE FAMILY
DAY*

One-time grants available for arts, culture, and heritage institutions to
host free online and in-person activities

*VICTORIA, BC* – The BC Museums Association (BCMA), in partnership with the
Province of British Columbia, is offering mini-grants to support local
museums, art galleries, historic places, cultural heritage institutions and
Indigenous communities in hosting free community activities for Family Day
2021. To ensure that Family Day 2021 is safe as well as fun, grants of up
to $1,000 are available to support the creation of online cultural
activities, and grants of up to $1,250 are available for in-person
activities to cover a portion of the costs, such as art supplies, staff
time, honoraria for knowledge keepers and community elders, facility
expenses, equipment rentals, and enhanced cleaning and safety supplies.

“BC Family Day is an opportunity to spend time with our loved ones and
celebrate family life in all of its diverse forms and expressions.” said
Melanie Mark, Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport. “We know Family
Day will look very different this year and we want to ensure British
Columbians have ways to come together safely. That’s why we’re proud to
offer community-based grants that support free, safe, and accessible Family
Day activities.”

“It’s clichéd to say it at this point, but these are unprecedented times.
Cultural organizations have faced a difficult year and these Family Day
grants will allow organizations to do what they do best, sharing BC’s
amazing arts, culture, and heritage with their communities,” says BCMA
Executive Director Ryan Hunt. “We are delighted to work with the Province
of British Columbia again to provide financial support to help cultural
institutions offer safe and accessible programs to families.”
