<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-autospace:none"><b>September 8, 2015 – Kelowna, BC:</b> T<span lang="EN-CA">he Kelowna Art Gallery is currently looking for volunteer docents (tour guides) for our school tour program. Interested applicants should enjoy a creative
atmosphere, stimulating surroundings, and working with children. Volunteer docents lead students on exhibition tours and host discussions about exhibitions on view at the Gallery.
<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-autospace:none"><span lang="EN-CA"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-autospace:none"><span lang="EN-CA">The Gallery’s school tour program welcomes over 6000 students from schools throughout the Central Okanagan through our doors each year.<b>
</b>For many students, this visit is their first experience in an art gallery.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-autospace:none"><span lang="EN-CA"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-autospace:none"><span lang="EN-CA">“Becoming a volunteer docent at the Gallery was the most rewarding new experience I have had in a long time,” says volunteer Karen Rodger. “Each tour and discussion with a class felt completely
different from the previous one. The children continually surprised me by making the most remarkable observations and art work.”<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-autospace:none"><span lang="EN-CA"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-autospace:none"><span lang="EN-CA">All docents receive full instruction on the art in each exhibition and advance training about working with students in a gallery setting. In addition, docents will receive a complimentary Gallery
membership, and after three months of service, earn a free Gallery art class or workshop of their choice.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
