Just when they are in conjunction with a conference Which one(s)? Arts BC Pros/Cons? Helpful information but would like something more in depth and something that addresses how to ensure the capacity to carry out the program/project.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>2) Has anyone participated in the Fundraising Certificate program at BCIT? Thoughts?<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>3) How did the course help you in your current position or help you obtain a new one? It gave me insight into how to write a grant, to consider that the people reading it had no prior knowledge of my location or purpose.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>4) Employers: How helpful is it to have an employee with this sort of knowledge/skill? Is it something you seek out in a potential employee? Yes, if I had an employee that would be a great skill to bring.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>5) If you have taken a workshop, how does that compare to taking a full course? What are the pros and cons? How do it balance with your work schedule? I went to an emergengy preparedness workshop that was an intense two days but it was also the most practical course where we broke into groups and actually tried out the skills we were learning. So a one or two day workshop, or an online course with feedback that would help me to produce a simple draft grant application I would consider worth my time.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>6) After taking one of the courses or programs, do you think you have been more successful in obtaining grants/funding? Did you look at the application process in a new light? Yes, I think my grant writing is more directed and I have a clearer picture of what I need to include to get the grants.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><br>Hope that helps,<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif";color:#1F497D'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><div><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Georgia","serif";color:#1F497D'>Christine Kashuba<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Georgia","serif";color:#1F497D'>Mackie Lake House Manager<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Georgia","serif";color:#1F497D'>250-545-1019<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span lang=EN-GB style='font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif";color:#1F497D'><a href="http://www.mackiehouse.ca/">www.mackiehouse.ca</a><o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span lang=EN-GB style='font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif";color:#1F497D'><a href="http://www.facebook.com/MackieHouse2012">Mackie House on Facebook</a><o:p></o:p></span></p></div><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif";color:#1F497D'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><div><div style='border:none;border-top:solid #B5C4DF 1.0pt;padding:3.0pt 0cm 0cm 0cm'><p class=MsoNormal><b><span lang=EN-US style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"'>From:</span></b><span lang=EN-US style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"'> bcma-bounces@lists.vifa.ca [mailto:bcma-bounces@lists.vifa.ca] <b>On Behalf Of </b>Moderated BCMA subscriber listserv.<br><b>Sent:</b> October-13-15 4:25 PM<br><b>To:</b> bcma@lists.vifa.ca<br><b>Subject:</b> [BCMA] Wanted: Thoughts on Fundraising Courses/Programs as Professional Development<o:p></o:p></span></p></div></div><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><div><div><div><p class=MsoNormal>Hello,<o:p></o:p></p><div><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p></div><div><p class=MsoNormal>I am currently working on a new column for the BCMA Round-Up on Professional Development.
