<p class=""><span class="">For Immediate Release: Kelowna, BC -- December 3rd, 2016</span></p><p class=""><span class=""><img src="cid:ii_ihqvwgsu0_1516a36d6ecad74b" width="187" height="186" style="margin-right: 0px;"><br><br></span></p><p class=""><span class="">The Arts Council of Central Okanagan’s (ARTSCO) Artscape program refreshed with exciting new exhibitions</span></p><p class=""><span class=""></span><br></p><p class=""><span class="">The Artscape program provides local professional and emerging artists with special exhibitions, high profile showcase locations, and marketing opportunities. Established in 1995, Artscape also provides opportunities for the public to experience visual artwork in accessible community settings.</span></p><p class=""><span class="">Showcase Venues are open year-round, and participants include families, students, art supporters, and artists. There are currently five venues that feature a different artist every two months, including: the downtown Kelowna and Mission Branch of the Okanagan Regional Library, the Kelowna Community Theatre, Cottonwoods Extended Care Centre, and Okanagan College Kelowna Campus Library, with 3 more locations coming online in the new year.</span></p><p class=""><span class="">In November and December Artscape has opened three new exhibitions: The Mission Painters at the Kelowna Community Theatre, the Kelowna Watercolour Guild at Cottonwoods Extended Care Center and Bonnie Weber and Colleen Dyson at the Okanagan College Kelowna Campus Library.</span></p><p class=""><span class="">The Mission Painters are a community of artists who meet and paint together regularly at the Okanagan Mission Activity Centre.  The paintings range in subject from still life to Okanagan landscapes, demonstrating true community spirit, as well as a chance to see the artwork of many artists from of Kelowna and the Central Okanagan.</span></p><p class=""><span class="">The Mission Painters include Marie Baigent, Jaine Buse, Jenny Brownjohn, Al Davis, Michelle Droettboom, Joyce Findlay, Lorraine Hodges, Bernice James, Minnie Klashinsky, Walter Maier, Myrna Nelson, Val Newth, Wendy Paterson, Linda Percival, Harjit Sahota, Wilma Schellenberger, Janice Schwartz, Victoria Shipowick, Lizzie Sutcliffe, Ron Tuchsen, Alena Tuma, Jiri Tuma, Diane Upsdell-Witherly and Ken Veale.</span></p><p class=""><span class="">The exhibition of the Watercolour Guild at Cottonwoods Extended Care includes a concurrent solo show of work by </span><span class="">Helen Fosbery, who is a long-standing member of the Guild.  The show is a chance to celebrate her excellent watercolour skills and her contribution to the Guild, with ten of her prolific works on display.  Other Watercolour Guild artists exhibiting are </span><span class="">Alice Anderson, Karin Arkinstall, Lally Grauer, Marlene Hamilton, Joyce Philpott, Kathleen Reece and Joan Needham. The exhibition will run to January 6</span><span class="">^th</span><span class="">.</span></p><p class=""><span class="">Colleen Dyson  and Bonnie Weber have their work on display at the Okanagan College Kelowna Campus Library from December 3rd to February 1</span><span class="">^st</span><span class=""> . Both Weber and Dyson come from the Kelowna Painters’ Studio Society and paint in a richly coloured representational style. </span></p><p class=""><span class="">ARTSCO is thrilled to be featuring these outstanding artists in public spaces for everyone to enjoy. </span></p><p class=""><span class=""><br></span></p><p class=""><span class="">-30-</span></p><p class=""><span class=""><br></span></p><p class=""><span class="">Media Contact</span></p><p class=""><span class="">Katie Brennan - Executive Director</span></p><p class=""><span class="">250-861-4123 // <a href="mailto:director@artsco.ca">director@artsco.ca</a> </span></p><p class=""><span class="">Arts Council of the Central Okanagan (ARTSCO)</span></p><p class=""><span class=""></span></p><p class=""><span class=""></span></p><p class=""><span class=""></span></p><p class=""><span class=""></span></p><p class=""><span class=""></span><br></p><p class=""><span class=""></span><br></p><p class=""><span class=""></span><br></p><p class="">
