</span></em><em><span style="color:black;font-style:normal">The Kelowna Art Gallery invites families of all shapes and sizes to join us this Family Day – Monday, February 8 – from 10 am to 4 pm for a
</span></em>full day of art activities, family-friendly tours, and special programming for children and adults.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify">Come in out of the cold and explore the fascinating exhibitions on view before getting creative with a hands-on art activity. Shows to see include
<span class="apple-converted-space"><i><span style="color:black">The Artist Herself: Self-Portraits by Canadian Historical Women Artists,
</span></i></span><span class="apple-converted-space"><span style="color:black">which includes two paintings by Emily Carr,<i>
</i>and also</span></span><em><span style="color:black"> Where the Heart Is, </span>
</em><em><span style="color:black;font-style:normal">by Salmon Arm-based artist Amy Modahl.</span></em><i><o:p></o:p></i></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify">Families will have the opportunity create their own futuristic prints inspired by the mysterious capsules that have shown up in downtown Kelowna as part of the<i> Fossils from the Future</i> public art project.
To do so, participants will be encouraged to take inspiration from the exhibitions on view and consider what sorts of objects they would put in a capsule and send into the past. All supplies will be provided, and the Gallery’s helpful staff will be on hand
to assist.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify">The cost for all this is $4 per participant, and includes admission and a tour of the exhibitions. The gallery will also be offering postcards and free maps for self-guided tours of the
<i>Fossils from the Future</i> public art pieces that are located outdoors near the gallery.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify">Another fun activity families can take part in is
<i>The Selfie Project</i>. This is a free activity that invites the public to paint, draw, or photograph their own self-portrait. All of the submitted portraits will be on display in the Gallery’s Art Lab until April 3, when
<i>The Artist Herself</i> exhibition closes.<o:p></o:p></p>
