Apparently, it is an ammunition box, but I have never seen anything like it so can’t help her much. Anyone recognise this? Dimensions are 45cm long x 25 cm deep x 20 cm high; wooden construction with two metal compartments inside. The two metal interior compartments lift out separately, and have a few markings on them – a stamp that looks like a crown with an arrow pointing up at it, and an embossed “GSW 43” on each end. There is a stencilled marking on the lid, just visible in this photo: C.D. 107 probably, though the last digit is hard to read.
