</o:shapelayout></xml><![endif]--></head><body lang=EN-CA link=blue vlink=purple><div class=WordSection1><p class=MsoNoSpacing>Delta Museum and Archives Society Delta Museum and Archives Society<br>Summer Employment Opportunity 4918 Delta Street<br>Position: <b>Curatorial Assistant</b> Delta, BC V4K 2V2<br><br><o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNoSpacing>The Delta Museum and Archives Society (DMAS) is seeking a temporary (summer – 12 weeks), full time (35 hrs/week) Curatorial Assistant. <br><br>Duties and Responsibilities: <br>Assisting in the inventory of the museum collection including: <br>- Comparing the existing database against artifacts found in situ by location <br>- Noting discrepancies <br>- Repairing and maintaining the database information as required <br>- Writing reports indicating necessary future action <br>- Assisting in the packing and care of museum artifacts in preparation for moving them to a warehouse <br>- Implementing a system for tracking boxes while in transit <br>- Proper care and handling of artifacts while interacting with the collection <br>- Assisting in receipt and accessioning of donated items, including how to keep track of them through the move <br>- Tracking of supplies <br>- Ensuring correct location of artifacts once moved to the warehouse <br>- Assisting in the development and implementation of a manner for tracking display support and building supplies <br>- Assisting in the development of a protocol for the development of exhibits in a yet to be determined location <br>- Developing a list of contacts for people with specific historical knowledge <br><br>Qualifications: <br>- Candidate must have been a full-time student during the last academic year and be returning to full-time studies in the fall of 2016. <br>- Interest in the history of Canada, BC, and the Lower Mainland an asset; <br>- Required enrollment in Museum Studies, Anthropology, Archaeology, History, Biology or Ecology program; <br>- Experience identifying, caring for and handling antiques and / or artifacts <br>- Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to multi-task, work will independently and as part of a team; <br>- A valid BC drivers’ license is required with access to a vehicle (to move between sites); <br>- Ability to lift approximately 50 lbs; <br>- Able to work in cramped, dusty conditions <br>- As this position may require interaction with the public, a criminal records check will be required; <br>- Applicant must be legally entitled to work in Canada and fulfill the requirements of the granting agencies. <br><br><b>Terms of Employment: May 9 – July 29, 2016</b> with the regular work week Monday - Friday with the occasional Saturday as required <br>Work hours are 9:00am - 4:30pm <br>Rate of pay: $14.35/hour plus 4% in lieu of vacation <br>All DMAS summer student employees are members of CUPE Local 454 <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNoSpacing>DMAS is an equal opportunity employer<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNoSpacing>DMAS acknowledges the current museum worksite is not wheelchair accessible.<br><br>Send cover letter and resume to: <br>Gabrielle Martin, Executive Director <br>Delta Museum and Archives Society <br>gmartin@deltamuseum.ca <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNoSpacing><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNoSpacing><b>The closing date for applications is Saturday, April 23<sup>rd</sup>.<o:p></o:p></b></p><p class=MsoNoSpacing><br>We thank all applicants for their interest in the position but only candidates selected for interview will be contacted.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p></div></body></html>
