<span style="font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"">Stories are powerful cultural tools for sharing knowledge and life lessons. How can older adults share their stories in today’s digital age?
<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p style="line-height:18.0pt;background:white"><span style="font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"">Digital storytelling is a form of narrative that creates short movies using relatively simple media technology.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p style="line-height:18.0pt;background:white"><span style="font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"">The Elders’ Digital Storytelling project, which began in 2014 funded by SSHRC, is being conducted in several municipalities in British Columbia, including Burnaby,
Port Moody, and Vancouver, to investigate whether digital storytelling can encourage and support communication and socialization, the maintenance and development of cognitive, communication, media and technology skills, as well as provide social-emotional
benefits to older adults.<br>

Our goals are to promote healthy aging through the use of browser-based digital storytelling software. We are also providing access to 21st century skills. Additionally, we hope that the stories created by our participants will reflect on their life journeys
and share important incidents in their lives with others.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
