<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"">The film is an initiative of Royal Roads University Archives to help document the remarkable history of Hatley Park - the beautiful home of Royal Roads University, and formerly

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"">The documentary was made possible by donations made to the Debra Barr Memorial Fund. While working for much of her career in Records Management, Debra was a constant advocate
in the archival community. She served on the Association of Canadian Archivists’ (ACA) Education Committee from 1987-1989 and helped prepare the Guidelines for the Development of a Two-Year Curriculum for a Master of Archival Studies. She wrote several articles
on the development of the concept of the fonds and was also a member of the RAD Textual Records Working Group in 1990-1991. In BC, she was tireless in her efforts to secure amendments to the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and the then
new Personal Information Protection Act. At Royal Roads University, Debra is remembered not only for her commitment to the field of archives and records management, but also for her passion for environmental sustainability, and for gardens history.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"">James Dunsmuir was a former BC Premier and Lieutenant-Governor, and son of the wealthy coal baron, Robert Dunsmuir. At the beginning of the Hatley Park construction project,
he is said to have demanded of the architect Samuel Maclure: “It doesn’t matter what it costs, just build me what I want.” What he wanted was a grand Edwardian retirement estate just outside Victoria on the shores of the Esquimalt Lagoon. Here, his family
enjoyed life at the pinnacle of Victoria’s high society until the outbreak of a World War changed everybody’s lives forever. The Dunsmuir family is a story of unimaginable wealth gained and lost within 3 generations: a cautionary tale of fate, fortune, and
family.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
