<p class="Default"><span style="font-size:11.0pt">Surrey Art Gallery is offering an 18-week Gallery Education Assistant position for a candidate that has completed post-secondary coursework in education, museum education, art education, Aboriginal education,
and/or a related discipline. This position is designed to provide work experience in gallery education research and development practices at one of Canada’s most vibrant visual arts institutions.

<p class="Default"><span style="font-size:11.0pt">Duties include: participating in meetings with local Indigenous artists and educators; conducting research on contemporary Indigenous art practices; assisting in the development of learner-centered educational
materials, including lesson plans and educational activities for use in schools; supporting planning educational workshops for teachers and students; working with staff in the development of promotional materials and initiatives; and contributing to the creation
of digital presentations and hand-outs. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="Default"><span style="font-size:11.0pt">We are seeking an individual who enjoys working in a dynamic environment and thrives in situations requiring meeting deadlines and adapting to change. The successful candidate will be a creative, detail-oriented
individual with: strong knowledge and experience in art education theories and practices; broad knowledge of contemporary art and art history; excellent oral and written communication skills; solid administrative, organizational, and interpersonal skills;
effective problem-solving skills; and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
