<p class="Default"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;color:windowtext">Surrey Art Gallery is offering a 16-week paid position for a candidate who is a full-time student obtaining a degree in education, museum education, art education, Aboriginal education, and/or
a related discipline. This position is designed to provide work experience in gallery education research and development practices at one of Canada’s most vibrant visual arts institutions.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="Default"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;color:windowtext">The successful candidate will be a motivated, methodical, articulate self-starter with excellent organizational and communication skills, a passion for community-based arts education, developing
learner-centered educational materials, and able to work independently and as part of a team. Duties include: participating in meetings with local Indigenous artists and educators; conducting research on contemporary Indigenous art practices; assisting in
the development of learner-centered educational materials, including lesson plans and educational activities for use in schools; supporting planning educational workshops for teachers and students; working with staff in the development of promotional materials
and initiatives; and contributing to the creation of digital presentations and hand-outs.

and experience in art education theories and practices; broad knowledge of contemporary art and art history; excellent oral and written communication; solid administrative, organizational, interpersonal, and research skills; effective problem-solving skills;
and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team. <o:p>

Canadian citizen or a permanent resident, or have refugee status in Canada (non-Canadians holding temporary work visas or awaiting permanent status are not eligible); are legally entitled to work in Canada; will be between 16 and 30 years of age at the start
of employment; are willing to commit to the full duration of the work assignment; will not have another full-time job (over 30 hours a week) during the Young Canada Works (YCW) work assignment; have been a full-time high school, college, CEGEP or university
