<p class="MsoNormal">The BCMA is excited to announce the launch of BC Museums
Week 2017, taking place May 14-21, 2017!

<p class="MsoNormal">BC Museums Week is perfectly situated in the international museum
calendar as it includes International Museum Day (IMD), an ICOM-sanctioned international
celebration that takes place annually on May 18 to raise awareness of museums’
roles as ”important means of cultural exchange, enrichment of cultures and
development of mutual understanding, cooperation and peace among peoples.” ICOM’s theme for this year’s IMD is “Museums
and contested histories: Saying the unspeakable in museums.”<span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The BCMA would like to formally invite member institutions –
and our colleagues in archives, libraries, heritage and other related memory
institutions – to participate in BC Museums Week and IMD 2017. Over the coming days you will see a flurry of
activity on the BCMA’s social media feeds and in our listserv as we share
resources, seek information and participants, and prepare for BC Museums Week.<span></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Would you and your organization like to participate in BC
Museums Week 2017? To begin, please
consider sharing the Proclamation via social media or e-newsletter (feel free
to use the attached image, or share our recent Facebook/Twitter posts). You can also “attend” <a href="https://www.facebook.com/events/367967106910253/" target="_blank">our Facebook event</a>
where we’ll share resources and connect participating organizations. If highlighting events on social media,
please use #BCMuseums and tag us in your posts so we can see and share what
you’re doing.<span></span></p>
