Designated as a National Historic Site in 1987, the Britannia Mine Museum is a non-profit society that inspires the exploration of individual and societal connections to British Columbia's mining; its past, present and future. The Museum encourages mining awareness, through experiential education programs, important historical preservation, and insightful public engagement. With public support, the Museum engages in environmental and sustainability projects that make it an important member of the Sea-to-Sky community. Visitors can enjoy fun exhibits and crowd favourites like the underground mine train, the historic 20-storey concentrator mill and gold panning, and learn about Britannia’s history as one of the largest copper mines in the British Commonwealth in the 1930s.
