<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt">Nestled between Wal-Mart, residential complexes and industrial businesses sits over fifty Great Blue Heron nests high atop the cottonwood trees. Bos explains “Despite the Great Blue Heron’s preference for
seclusion, the Great Blue Herons have been calling Vernon home (seasonally speaking) for thirty years. In the spring of 2016, the Vernon Heronry was a seasonal home for seventy-five adults, with about two-hundred chicks later resulting.”

Blue Heron at Vernon Heronry, with some Esquimalt Lagoon relatives (smaller Great Blues).<o:p></o:p></span></p>
