<p style="margin:0in 0in 10pt"><font face="Calibri"><font size="3"><font color="#000000">The Cowichan Valley Arts Council has recently acquired permission to use a large space adjacent to its existing gallery to expand and bring additional art experiences
to the residents of the Cowichan Valley.<span> </span>
</font></font><font color="#000000" size="3">While the board and staff have run a small gallery for many years we are thinking that now is a good time for us to become more knowledgeable about the curator’s role in managing a gallery.</font><span><font color="#000000" size="3">
</font></span><font color="#000000" size="3">We are envisioning the role of the curator to be a facilitator and a nurturer of the arts, using their expertise to expand the horizons of artists and patrons.</font><span><font color="#000000" size="3">
</font></span><font color="#000000" size="3">While the Cowichan Valley Arts Council is too small to entertain the idea of hiring even a part-time curator on a permanent basis, we are intrigued by the possibility that someone out there has the knowledge to lead
a group of dedicated individuals to improve their understanding of the curatorial role.</font><span><font color="#000000" size="3">
</font></span><font color="#000000" size="3">We are hoping and thinking that someone could lead a series of workshops/courses to do this.</font><span><font color="#000000" size="3">
