<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:black">I am sorry to write that Robert Davison has passed away. Robert worked at the BC Archives and Royal BC Museum for 43 years, retiring five years ago. In his early
career Robert could be found assisting researchers as a photo-archivist, and eventually becoming Head of the Visual Records division.

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:black"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:black">Passionate about the care of collections Robert later became Head of Archival Preservation Services where he tirelessly advocated for innovative approaches to collection
care including; Archival needs assessments, condition surveys, early digital preservation and access to audio recordings, improved cool and controlled environments for photographic collections, and creation of digital inventories as the Archives moved into
the digital age. As well he was one of the earliest sessional teachers at UBC’s Masters of Archival Studies program and he worked extensively on the first edition of RAD.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:black"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:black">Robert was a mentor to many and his kindness, patience, humour, leadership and encouragement is evident in the many archive and museum professionals who went on
to long and rewarding careers under his tutelage.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:black">Always willing to help Robert stepped into various leadership roles as needed providing support and advocating for staff as Acting Head of Access, Acting Head of
Conservation and Manager of Visitor Services.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
