</span><span style="color:black">Claire Gilbert, archivist and librarian for the Royal BC Museum and Archives passed away this weekend after a short battle with cancer.
</span><span style="mso-fareast-language:EN-CA">It was too quick and our thoughts are with her family.</span><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:black"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:black"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color:black">Claire joined the organization in 2001 and in addition to caring for the Archives library collection, worked in the Archives Reference Room, liaised with court services, supported FOI and privacy services, as well
as a myriad of other responsibilities over the years. Claire cared deeply about the BC Archives and the preservation of BC’s history. She always took great care each and every time she assisted researchers and the public, and I relied on her knowledge of
the Archives collections pretty much daily. Her professional legacy is notable, Claire led projects to describe and ensure business records such as those of BC industries Ocean Falls and Pemberton Homes collections were preserved and made accessible for future
generations, her organizational skills helped to ensure the success of the Archives cold storage program, and her commitment to active collaboration and strong community relations was evident, not more so than in the Archives partnership with the Sisters of
St Ann Archives.</span><span style="color:black"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
