</o:shapelayout></xml><![endif]--></head><body lang=EN-US link="#0563C1" vlink="#954F72"><div class=WordSection1><p class=MsoNormal>North Vancouver Museum & Archives’ traveling exhibit “Chief Dan George: Actor and Activist” opens at Sidney Museum on June 21<sup>st</sup> 2019.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoPlainText>"Chief Dan George: Actor and Activist" is an exhibit exploring the life and legacy of Tsleil-Waututh Chief Dan George (1899-1981). The exhibit examines Chief George's influence as an advocate for the rights of First Nations peoples and his career as an actor. Although centered on Dan George, the exhibit delves into significant events and individuals in the First Nations rights movement in BC and Canada, and the history and culture of the Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh First Nations in North Vancouver.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>The opening ceremony for this exhibit will be held at 10:00am on National Indigenous Peoples day (June 21<sup>st</sup>) in front of Sidney Museum (2423 Beacon Ave, Sidney BC) and the exhibit will run through September 30<sup>th</sup> 2019.
