History Comes Alive Online</span></b></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0in 0in 8pt;line-height:107%;font-size:11pt;font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span lang="EN-CA">Heritage Branch has launched the Provincial Heritage Artifacts
Database, a web app that will provide world-wide access to the artifact
collections of the Provincial Heritage Properties. This is the first time that
the collections of multiple heritage museums across B.C. have been brought
together online in one searchable web app. </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0in 0in 8pt;line-height:107%;font-size:11pt;font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span lang="EN-CA">The web app provides online access to
information </span><span lang="EN-CA">about over 70,000 artifacts and structures
at Provincial Heritage Properties across B.C. including photographs, object descriptions
and history of use as well as information about original owners, publishers,
creators, and manufacturers, etc. </span><span lang="EN-CA">The launch supports the B.C. Government’s priority to provide public
access to information in an increasingly technology driven world.</span><span lang="EN-CA"></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0in 0in 8pt;line-height:107%;font-size:11pt;font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span lang="EN-CA">Heritage professionals are excited to see
the release of this new online tool. “The
Provincial Heritage Artifacts Database is a much needed and welcome resource
that will make the collections of these heritage properties accessible to
people across British Columbia and the world” says Kelly Black, Executive
Director of the Point Ellice House Museum and Gardens. “The database will
connect communities and generate new conversations around British Columbia's
past, present, and future."</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0in 0in 8pt;line-height:107%;font-size:11pt;font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span lang="EN-CA">The web app features Provincial Heritage
Properties such as Emily Carr House, Craigflower Manor, Craigflower
Schoolhouse, The Grist Mill at Keremeos, Cottonwood House, Kilby General Store
Museum, Historic Yale, Point Ellice House, Historic Hat Creek and Fort Steele.
Barkerville will be added early 2020. </span></p>
