It truly honours the contributions of those who brought the place to life. It honours creativity, hard work, and financial contributions as equals, not just the money some gave. The names in the lists are obviously of individuals as well as big businesses and sponsoring institutions, all celebrated equally for their importance in the process of birthing the institution. There is no mention of money, but rather the area of development they sponsored or in which they worked to provide major inspiration.<div><br></div><div>The wall reads like this:</div><div>HONOR WALL OF FAME</div><div> STARS</div><div> VISIONARIES</div><div> CREATORS</div><div> BELIEVERS</div><div> DREAMERS<br><div><br></div><div>Sculpted of fine marble in a ceremonial style, everything about it speaks of the spirits of institutional honour, and personal dedication, sharing and creativity that permeate the entire institution.</div><div><br></div><div>2) The Boonshoft Discovery Museum in Dayton Ohio has an interactive honour wall in the character of discovery that matches the institution. It has sliding panels to open and wheels to turn to expose names related to different areas of contribution and different special projects. Made with simple non-electronic devices, it reflects the functional style of exhibits and learning encouraged by the place. That Honor Wall also functions as one more learning and discovery element in the museum.</div><div><br></div><div>3) The opportunity is for any institution to honour its important contributors in a manner and style that reflects the institution and also provides delight for visitors. Celebrating only financial contributions and their values tends to shift attention to the donors rather than to the institution itself. The places mentioned above illustrate ways to help shift public attention to support of the institutions and what it takes to bring them to life, surely what should be the primary objective for any donor and contribution, not just illustrating who is more wealthy.</div><div><br></div><div>Cuyler Page</div><div>Heritage Interpretation Services</div><div>Vernon, BC</div><div>(250) 309-9248</div><div><a href="mailto:cuyler@telus.net">cuyler@telus.net</a>\</div><div><br></div><div><br><div><div>On Aug 14, 2019, at 9:42 AM, Moderated BCMA subscriber listserv. <<a href="mailto:bcma@lists.vifa.ca">bcma@lists.vifa.ca</a>> wrote:</div><br class="Apple-interchange-newline"><blockquote type="cite"><div dir="ltr">Hello all,<div><br></div><div>We are currently developing a sponsorship program here at Point Ellice House Museum and Gardens.
