<span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif";color:black">In 2017 the Museum of Surrey launched a new vision, “To be the best people’s museum in Canada”. This vision along with a new name, mission, and strategic plan, and a 14,000 square
foot expansion opened in 2018, have ushered in big changes in how the museum engages community. </span><span style="font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif""><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p style="mso-margin-top-alt:0in;margin-right:0in;margin-bottom:8.0pt;margin-left:0in">
<span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif";color:black">Engagement with community at Museum of Surrey has happened across museum departments. For example, community groups involved in special events build long term relationships and have
become leaders for exhibitions. Likewise, some groups who have created exhibits later become involved leading events at the museum. </span><span style="font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif""><o:p></o:p></span></p>

launched exhibits at neighbouring institutions. We all work hard for our exhibits – let’s share those lessons learned!
