</o:shapelayout></xml><![endif]--></head><body lang=EN-CA link="#0563C1" vlink="#954F72"><div class=WordSection1><p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:8.0pt;line-height:105%'><span style='mso-fareast-language:EN-CA'>Good afternoon, <o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:8.0pt;line-height:105%'><span style='mso-fareast-language:EN-CA'>The Bulkley Valley Museum in Smithers BC has recently undertaken a deaccessioning project focusing on large artifacts in its collection. <o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:8.0pt;line-height:105%'><span style='mso-fareast-language:EN-CA'>Our institution has struggled with storing these large items for many years, and unfortunately space that was previously available to us will no longer be after fall 2020. Other potential storage options are not yet fully realized, and so we are seeking to transfer items to other institutions if possible. Alternatively a lack of interest will be an indicator that similar items are already represented in other collections in Canada. <o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:8.0pt;line-height:105%'><span style='mso-fareast-language:EN-CA'>All items were reviewed by a Collections Committee, with deaccessioning approved by the Board of Directors. We will be circulating the full list of items through the BC Museums Association and CMA list-serves (apologies if you see this twice!). <o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:8.0pt;line-height:105%'><span style='mso-fareast-language:EN-CA'>We recognize that the value in some of these items may be that they can be used to restore other existing items in your collection, and are comfortable with that reality. <o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:8.0pt;line-height:105%'><span style='mso-fareast-language:EN-CA'>We also recognize that many museums are currently operating at reduced capacity, and that it may take some time for a decision to be made. We ask that any institution wanting to receive an item please let us know by July 30<sup>th</sup> 2020 that they are at least interested, even if final details have not yet been sorted.
