<p class="MsoNormal">The Indigenous Programs & Community Engagement Coordinator will be responsible for implementing public programming related to Indigenous exhibitions and for assisting with identified engagement priorities of the host nations, such as coordinating
open house events for host nation community members.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">The Museum of Vancouver (MOV) connects Vancouverites to each other and connects the city to the world. An enthusiastic civic advocate, MOV is dedicated to encouraging a deeper understanding of Vancouver through stories, objects and shared

<p class="MsoNormal">MOV acknowledges that it is located within the unceded, ancestral territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations and is making redress and decolonization an institutional priority.
MOV currently has four indigenous Board members.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><b>Nature of the Position <o:p></o:p></b></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">This position will oversee the Indigenous Artisan Workshop Series by booking new workshops, both in the MOV facility (and piloting online initiatives as a COVID-19 response). The coordinator may also be asked to help coordinate opportunities
for indigenous youth, such as the recently piloted Reconciled Futures Art Camp and virtual fieldtrip experiences. Examples of other types of public programming held, or attended, by MOV include festival events such as Indigenous Fashion Week and Pride Parade;
Orange Shirt Day; an Outdoor Garden; Walking Tours; Family Day and Winter Wander events; panel discussions and film screenings.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">As a representative of the museum, the Engagement Coordinator will be a good host, ensuring that indigenous community members feel supported and comfortable while working or visiting MOV. As part of relationship building, and maintenance,
the Coordinator will at times provide advice and support to initiatives of the Education, Visitor Services, and Marketing departments.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Applicants should be willing to work flexible hours and be willing to attend cultural events and programming at other venues in the city as part of their engagement duties.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><b>Responsibilities<o:p></o:p></b></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">• Developing and executing the implementation strategy for programs and events, on-site and off.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">• Develop and maintain relationships with guest speakers, facilitators, performers, partnering organizations, communities and sponsors.
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">• Assessing the effectiveness and impact of programs and projects and making recommendations to improve their delivery.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">• Coordinating all technical details and logistics leading up to, during and after public programs and special events.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">• Acting as on-site event support to guest speakers, facilitators and performers.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">• Serving as a resource and representative of MOV at public events including addressing the public on behalf of MOV.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">• Developing and distributing event information in advance, to ensure all internal stakeholders are aware of event details.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">• Working with volunteers to ensure effective teamwork and event management.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">• Creating and tracking event and project budgets.
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">• Keeping accurate records for statistical and operational reporting and to support grant and funding applications.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">• Developing and maintaining accurate event bookings in our ticketing and facilities platforms; monitoring sales, guest lists, and room capacities.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left:36.0pt;text-indent:-36.0pt">• Collaborating with MOV Communications personnel to ensure effective messaging to promote programs and events; and maintaining accurate event listings on MOV’s website, social
media and external websites.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">• Engaging the Vancouver’s diverse communities through social media content and interaction.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">• Maintaining effective and timely communications with other MOV personnel, including frontline staff.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">• Fielding event and program related inquiries from the public and membership.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">• Other activities of a related nature.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><b>Requirements (Qualifications, Knowledge, Education, Skills)<o:p></o:p></b></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The successful candidate will be a Canadian Citizen of indigenous ancestry (First Nations, Inuit, Métis), with preference given to members of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh Nations.
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Candidates should have experience, or demonstrable interest in, educational and cultural programming. We are seeking a highly organized individual with excellent communication skills, capable of liaising with multiple parties in a clear,
respectful, and efficient manner. A degree, or advanced studies, in Education or an Arts related discipline would be an asset.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">• Proficiency with setting up, operating and trouble-shooting presentation equipment (e.g. projectors, laptops, basic PA systems, etc.).<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">• The ability to lift and carry equipment and supplies up to 35 lbs. at a time.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">• Proficiency with all aspects of Microsoft Office and Windows and Mac operating systems.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">• Proficiency with browser-based and mobile social media and publishing platforms.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">• Experience creating and tracking event, project and departmental budgets.
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left:36.0pt;text-indent:-36.0pt">• Hold Serving it Right certification or an equivalent out-of-province qualification and experience in applying for Special Occasion Licenses from the BC Liquor Control and Licensing
Branch and overseeing licensed events.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">• Knowledge and proven interest/experience with a contemporary culture and local history.
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">• Some experience with public speaking.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">• Experience with event setup and reporting in Eventbrite or other ticketing platforms would be an asset.<o:p></o:p></p>
