Under CRA rules you can't give it back if a donation agreement has been signed. They went to the Mayor and their Member of Parliament and called me an 'officious bastard' online. We took the best parts of all of the relevant Canadian documents we could find and combined this with guidance from the CRA (yes, we are a Charity). Knowing that the Collection Policy and the Society Bylaws are probably the two most important guiding documents in a Society like ours, and knowing that frequently, major changes to Bylaws are reviewed by a lawyer (with non-profit knowledge), would it be wise to have our new policy reviewed?
