Hello All,

Catching up on e-mails over a coffee and the Sunday morning news...

Christoph, good on ya for initiating this exchange. I'd be great to get some
CPD programs for us up here in the North. Please let me know if I can
assist.

As an intro to myself, I'm a husband and father living fulltime, except the
odd vitamin D fix required each summer, in Terrace. I'm an ACMG Ski Guide
(as well as a non practicing Assistant Alpine Guide) and have been guiding
since the late 80's. I'm quite embarrassed to bring out the sport climbing
pics from those days as Lycra just isn't "in" like it used to be... I've
spent time guiding throughout Canada as well as NZ, Chile/Argentina, USA and
Europe. I've spent the last 15 or so winters on the coast guiding full time.
My first business venture was a Catskiing company in the Kootney's in the
area currently tenured to Retallck. I then co-founded Last Frontier
Heliskiing along with 2 other partners and sold my interests in that company
to start Northern Escape Heli-Skiing here in Terrace. I also do some work as
a CAA course Instructor and I'm currently the President of HeliCat Canada.

Next...

.

The way Heli-Skiing and Boarding were meant to be!

Hello to Christoph and all other nmap clan members!
Once again, thanks, Christoph, for organizing this group. It has great
potential.
I wandered into the avalanche world in 1981 via the "lifer" recreational
pursuits route. After living and working in various snowy locales in
southern BC and Alberta, I moved to Terrace in 1988. A bit of a
love/hate relationship for the first couple of years (so we left for the
summers), but a dedicated moss-covered permanent resident since then
(though i loved the rumour I heard about me moving to southern Ontario a
few years ago...)
I am a consulting avalanche technician, subcontracting mainly through
Chris Stethem and Associates Ltd. My principal project is operating CN
Rail's avalanche program in the Skeena and Bulkley subdivisions and
assisting with CN's programs elsewhere in BC. The Skeena/Bulkley
program is uniquely operated in concert with the Ministry of
Transportation and Infrastructure's Hwy 16 Skeena/Tyee program. I also
work with various other transportation, energy and resource clients in
the northwest.
The icing-on-the-cake of working in the avie world in this area is
instructing AST courses, which I've done since 1989, but now focus
specifically on AST 2 courses. We have a really great backcountry
community here.
I like to take advantage of local recreational opportunities (!!) and
then do summer road (and ocean) trips to compare ours with those that
other places have to offer.
OK, who's next?

Contact info below.

Cheers!
Rod
