Hello the northern mountain people,
several of you made the mistake of offering your help should I work
firewood at Burnie this fall. Due to several other commitments, this
event has been postponed to the first week in October. So you have a
chance to pull out honourably now. Should you persist, here is the deal:
You get a free trip in and out and beer and food (note the sequence, but
no drinking will be allowed until all machinery including mauls has been
shut down). There will be plenty of hard work falling, bucking, limbing,
packing, loading, splitting and stacking firewood. I understand that a
section of trail is washing out too. All this labour will not be paid.
And yes, you can sleep in the lodge and use the sauna.
This year, I'm flying in a splitter as I think I damaged my shoulder
splitting last year.
Partners are welcome as long as they are willing to chip in - cooking,
maybe looking after kids, or joining in the general work.
I will be gone tomorrow morning until the end of the month. Please
remember that you can use this listserve just as I do - this is not the
voice of the oldest guide in the Bulkley Valley only.
It would be great to see you there or otherwise.
All the best
