While not specific to British Columbia, the new Washington Wildflowers
smartphone app may still be useful to folks who live and botanize north of
49°. It's a comprehensive field guide to over 850 species, with a searchable
database, 3 photos for most plants, range maps (by county in Washington),
and descriptions. Available for iOS, Android, and Kindle Fire. More details
at
<http://turnerphotographics.com/2013/04/06/washington-wildflowers-a-new-stan
dard-in-wildflower-smartphone-apps/>. Produced cooperatively by the
University of Washington Herbarium and High Country Apps, with database
content from the herbarium, my photos, and descriptions by Phyllis
Gustafson. Once downloaded and installed there's no need for a net
connection.
