Hi everyone,
Just wanted to let you know about a new NPSBC workshop -- the first of many this year. Here are the details:
Introduction to Botanical Drawing and Painting
with Alison Watt
Saturday, April 20, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Kinsman Pavilion, Richmond Nature Park
11851 Westminster Highway, Richmond
About the workshop: Learning a few tricks for drawing and painting some of the plants you love can be a lot of fun. In the morning we will go over some basic drawing techniques. You'll learn accurate and effective ways to get your botanical subject on paper. In the afternoon, we'll transfer our drawings to watercolour paper and use a limited watercolour palette in an introduction to botanical painting. Limited to 15 participants to allow for individual instruction.
Materials: a sketchbook or sketch paper, 2B and 4B pencils, sizes 1, 2, and 6 round watercolour brushes (good synthetics are not expensive), and artists' watercolours if you have them. Alison will supply watercolours and watercolour paper for a fee of $10 or $5 for paper only.

Her work has appeared in many invitational and juried shows and is in collections in Canada, the United States and Great Britain.
