The Allure of Native BC Berries with Bardia Khaledi
Bardia will explore the diversity of native berries of BC, covering the six distinct families of berries, occurring in varied geographical/climatic zones, their living requirements, the reliance of birds/insects on their nectars and fruits as well as methods to propagate the plants either by germination of seeds or cuttings.
Bardia Khaledi holds a MA in Anthropology from Simon Fraser University; his thesis explored environmentalism and accession policies of botanical gardens in BC. He is the co-president of VanDusen Seed Collectors where he promotes seed saving and raise funds for the VanDusen Botanical Garden Association. As an educator/consultant at Plant Profusion, he promotes a love for nature and gardening and asks others to create spaces that accommodate native plants and wildlife.
Evening presentations take place in the Cedar Room at the VanDusen Botanical Garden at 37th Ave. and Oak St. in Vancouver. The presentation starts at 7 p.m. Admission is free for members; a $2 donation is appreciated from non-members.
