Western North America is blessed with abundant areas of alpine. The plants that make their home above treeline area distinctive and spectacular bunch. It's a difficult place to live, but our alpine plants have evolved ingenious ways of coping with this challenging environment. In this presentation Andy Mackinnon will show us some of these adaptations to alpine life, illustrated with BC examples.

Andy Mackinnon is a professional biologist and professional forester who works as regional ecologist for coastal BC for the B.C. Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations. Andy is also adjunct professor at the School of Resource and Environmental Management, Simon Fraser University.
A number of copies of Alpine Plants of British Columbia, Alberta and Northwest North America by Andy Mackinnon and Jim Pojar will be available for sale at the event for $25 cash (regular price is $30).

Please note, there will also be a short AGM for the NPSBC
