Bob,their contributions to mycology well recognised even internationally. At
NAMA ( North American Mycological Association) 2 weekends ago a presentation
made by Henry Beker from Brussels on Hebelomas and he was singing the
praises of this incredible duo. He is presently in the process of obtaining
as much data as possible on North American Hebelomas and hoping that all Bio
Blitzes and major collection forays would contribute to his worldwide
enlarging database making his the definitive study on this very confusing
poorly defined and described group of fungi. If you are interested I could
send along his NAMA presentation, keys and collection forms for DNA
submissions. I am awaiting clearance from him to share this data. See you in
Whistler,wishes,David

Thanks Oluna and Adolf!
No doubt if you are receiving this email you already know of the incredible
contributions of the Ceskas. What you may not know is how significant their
role has been in building mycological knowledge in Whistler.
The Whistler Naturalists have been lucky for many years to host Adolf,
Oluna, and many other luminary gurus from SVIMS & VMS for our summer
BioBlitz and October Fungus Among Us events. Over the years it's been proved
repeatedly that fungal folks have the most fun, and are the most fun, of any
specialists who participate (please don't pass this on outside of this
circle!).
It is totally as a result of these mycologists that the Whistler fungus list
includes well over 800 species.
Bob,
On behalf of Kristina and the Whistler Naturalists

On June 2-4, Bob Brett, Kristina Swerhun (recent recipients of the
prestigious Sovereign's Medal for Volunteers) and other members of Whistler
Natural History Society organized 11-th Whistler Bioblitz:

Several members of the South Vancouver Island Mycological Society (SVIMS)
and Vancouver Mycological Society (VMS) participated in this action and
found many interested fungi, some of them not previously recorded from
British Columbia:

Many thanks to Bob and Kristina et al. for organizing this important event!
